Pollen

Outdoor allergy prevention tips

  1. Stay indoors on dry, windy days.
  2. Delegate lawn mowing and gardening chores that stir up allergens.
  3. Shower after long periods outdoor. Wear a dust mask for outdoor chores.
  4. Check local media for current pollen forecasts and levels.
  5. Use allergy medications before symptoms start.
  6. Avoid outdoor activity in the morning when pollen counts are highest.
  7. Use the air conditioning in your house and car.
  8. Use high-efficiency filters and follow regular maintenance schedules.
  9. Keep indoor air dry with a dehumidifier.
  10. Clean floors often with a vacuum cleaner that has a HEPA filter.
  11. Close doors and windows when pollen counts are high.
